Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems continues her meteoric rise. Fresh off her Grammy win, she shone brightly at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards, where she became the first Nigerian artist to receive the prestigious Breakthrough Artist honor.

For the ceremony, held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, Tems embraced a sultry yet classic aesthetic. She graced the red carpet in a form-fitting black Alaïa FW22 gown, her hair styled in beautifully sculpted Bantu knots. This timeless elegance reflects the poise and power she exudes as a performer.

Before taking the stage for a captivating performance of “Not An Angel,” Tems spoke with Lilly Singh and Billboard’s Rania Aniftos. She emphasized the importance of authenticity: “Just being yourself, not changing yourself for anybody,” she advised.

The annual Billboard Women in Music Awards celebrate the achievements of women across the music industry. Other honorees included Karol G (Woman of the Year), Charli XCX (Powerhouse), and Maren Morris (Visionary).
