Jean Paul Gaultier Selects Courrèges’ Nicolas Di Felice for Prestigious Guest Couturier Role

In a move sure to excite the fashion world, Jean Paul Gaultier, the legendary enfant terrible, has chosen Nicolas Di Felice as his next guest couturier. Di Felice, the creative force behind the revitalized Courrèges, is renowned for breathing fresh life into the brand’s iconic Space Age aesthetic while maintaining its core DNA.

This collaboration promises sparks. Gaultier is known for his irreverent wit, theatrical runway shows, and a boundary-pushing approach to couture. Di Felice, while more restrained, shares a similar sense of playful experimentation. His recent Courrèges collections demonstrate a masterful use of cutouts, bold silhouettes, and unexpected textures.

“Nicolas possesses a fearless creativity that has caught my eye from the beginning,” Gaultier reveals to WWD. “This collaboration is about seeing how a fresh perspective can reinterpret and reinvigorate my own design legacy.”

Di Felice is equally enthusiastic about the opportunity. “The Jean Paul Gaultier archives are a treasure trove of inspiration,” he states. “I’m thrilled to explore this iconic world and offer my own take on its enduring codes.”

The one-off collection will undoubtedly be a highlight of Paris Couture Week, running from June 24th to 27th. This announcement further cements Jean Paul Gaultier’s tradition of spotlighting cutting-edge talent. Previous guest couturiers have included Simone Rocha, Glenn Martens of Y/Project and Diesel, and Sacai’s Chitose Abe
