The Beauty in the Motherland event, which was held in Lagos, Nigeria, marked an exciting partnership between Lagos State Tourism and Nectar Beauty Hub, bringing meaningful opportunities to beauty entrepreneurs on the rise in Africa. With the support of Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, participants did not just receive only financial awards but also valuable counsel on developing their brands in the ever-competitive beauty industry.

The event featured an ample monetary prize pool, with N5 million, N2 million, and N1 million awarded to the top three Nectar Beauty Pitch Competition finalists. The intent of these financial awards is to encourage the growth of exceptional beauty brands chosen for their innovative approach, brand potential, and unique market appeal. Beyond funding, participants gained invaluable industry insights through education and mentorship, helping them refine their business strategies and product offerings.

The judging panel featured key figures like Ifeoma Uddoh, founder of Shecluded, Danny Kioupouroglou, General Manager of Eko Hotels and Suites, and beauty industry leader Akunna Nwala Akano, founder of Kuku’s Hair. Their evaluation was based on product quality, brand vision, financial viability, and overall pitch impact. The first place went to Ngozi Atta, followed by Glory Ama and Chidimma Madubuike.

Nectar Beauty Hub’s founder, Beatrice Eneh, commended the winners and expressed the company’s commitment to championing African beauty standards and fostering growth within the industry. Additionally, the Nail Art Competition crowned “Nails by Daniel” as its champion, awarding N1 million from the Lagos Ministry, with more than 1,500 nail technicians benefitting from training since the event’s inception.

Celebrated as one of Africa’s premier beauty showcases, Beauty in the Motherland not only highlights the continent’s creativity and diversity but also provides an invaluable platform for networking and growth within the African beauty scene, bringing together passionate entrepreneurs, experts, and industry stakeholders.
