Deyemi Okanlawon is a Nigerian film, television, theatre, and voice actor. At the age of 5, he had his first experience with acting when he featured in an end-of-year play while in primary school. Okanlawon was featured in a nationally syndicated television commercial with Kunle Bamtefa at the age of 9. While studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos, Okanlawon became an active member of the drama groups Gf(x) (Harvesters Company), Xtreme Reaction, and Snapshots (Covenant Christian Centre).

In 2010, he made his featured film debut with the movie titled ZR-7, but before then, he featured in a short film titled A Grain Of Wheat. Deyemi went on to feature in and co-produce many more short films and by 2012 he had gained prominence for his numerous appearances in made-for-internet short films and web series which include Blink, 6:30 pm, and Knock Knock. In 2013, he switched careers to focus on acting full-time, and ever since then, he has been featured in many movies, TV series, and stage plays, including television commercials.

In 2024, he delved into movie production with the movie All’s Fair In Love.

He became well-known in 2018 after finishing second runner-up in the third season of the Double Wahala edition of the popular Nigerian reality TV show Big Brother Naija.

Before competing in the third season of the renowned Nigerian reality TV show Big Brother Naija’s Double Wahala edition, Bakre, who holds a degree in Banking and Finance, worked in the banking industry. In pursuit of a banking profession, Tobi worked as the General Accountant of the Federation’s protocol officer in Abuja from April 2013 to February 2014. Tobi’s distinct career prospects in the banking industry led to the offer of this opportunity. In addition, he has experience working in retail and as a relationship manager for Treasury and Financial Institutions.

His acting career began as a character on the Nigerian daily show Hustle, where he depicted the typical struggles of a Nigerian returnee experiencing life in the nation for the first time, after which he got his big break in the box office hit Sugar Rush.

Over the years, Bakre has embraced his passion for acting and has appeared in several Nollywood movies and web series, showcasing his versatile acting skills. After a brief stint working in the oil and gas industry as an engineer, he changed careers and went on to study film, writing, and directing at the AFDA Film School in South Africa and did a course at the University of Johannesburg on film production.

In 2017, he produced a five-minute short film titled Prey, produced by his wife, Toyosi, with Tope Tedela and Odenike Odetola. Effiong has been married to Toyosi Etim-Effiong since November 4, 2017. They started dating in August 2016 while on a project. Their union is blessed with three children.
