V&A to Honor Naomi Campbell’s Iconic Legacy with ‘Naomi: In Fashion’ Exhibition
In celebration of a career that has redefined fashion for four decades, supermodel Naomi Campbell will be the subject of a groundbreaking exhibition, ‘Naomi: In Fashion,’ at London’s esteemed Victoria and Albert Museum. Opening in June, the exhibit promises a breathtaking journey through Campbell’s extraordinary impact on the industry.
Produced with Campbell’s collaboration, the exhibition will showcase a dazzling array of approximately 100 garments. This carefully curated selection will encompass pivotal moments in her stratospheric rise, featuring both haute couture and ready-to-wear masterpieces. Visitors can expect to be awed by contributions from legendary designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Virgil Abloh, Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaïa, Alexander McQueen, and Gianni and Donatella Versace. Iconic pieces such as the Thierry Mugler car-inspired corset from 1989 and the gravity-defying Vivienne Westwood platforms will be among the highlights.
A Fashion Force Beyond the Runway
British Vogue’s former editor-in-chief Edward Enninful adds his curatorial touch with a special installation. This powerful display will feature iconic photographs by Tim Walker, Nick Knight, and Steven Meisel, capturing Campbell’s magnetic presence in unforgettable campaigns. Beyond the catwalk, the exhibit will shine a spotlight on Campbell’s tireless advocacy.
Visitors will gain insight into her work, including her collaboration with Iman and Bethann Hardison on the Diversity Coalition, her role in the Black Girl Coalition, and her memorable encounter with Nelson Mandela.
