Last week, we stood at the crossroads, C is for Choices, examining the weight of decisions and the way they shape our paths. I promised that the next step in our journey through #Unshakable Truths would be D is for Destiny. After all, the choices we make in those pivotal moments are never just about where we are now; they are about where we are meant to be.

But what is destiny? Is it a grand, pre-written script, unyielding to change, ensuring we always end up exactly where we were meant to? Or is it a living, breathing thing—malleable, shaped by the hands of those bold enough to seize it?

Today, while watching Running Point, a Netflix comedy series, I was struck by a curious statement from the lead character. She claimed that even her worst decisions sometimes led to good outcomes. One example stood out — she didn’t stop when she hit another car, which, in turn, meant she arrived just in time to save her brother from choking.

It made me pause.

If even our mistakes can guide us toward a destined outcome, then does that mean destiny is fixed? That regardless of which turn we take at the crossroads, we will ultimately arrive where we were always meant to be? Or do we have the power to shape it, nudging fate with the force of our conscious decisions?

The Crossroads of Fate And Free Will

There are two schools of thought when it comes to destiny. The first believes in an unchangeable fate, an invisible hand that has already carved the path we walk—every joy, every heartbreak, every stumble — predetermined, inevitable.

The second believes destiny is fluid, sculpted by the choices we make every day. In this view, life isn’t a map with a single route but a vast ocean where the currents shift depending on our actions.

Maybe the truth, like most things, lies somewhere in between.

Have you ever looked back on your life and realised that the moments you resisted, the ones that didn’t make sense at the time, led you somewhere unexpectedly right? That missed flight, the heartbreak you thought would break you, the job rejection that forced you onto a path you never considered—all of them leading to something bigger than you could have imagined.

But does that mean it was always meant to happen that way? Or were you simply resilient, #Unshakable enough to make the best of it?

Destiny’s Nudge

Some people wait for destiny to arrive like a letter in the mail. They assume that if something is meant for them, it will come — no matter what. They call it ‘meant to be.’

But what if destiny isn’t waiting to deliver something to us but rather waiting for us to move toward it?

Perhaps destiny doesn’t just happen—perhaps it is something we claim.

Yes, life has its twists, its mysterious ways of leading us where we need to go. But it is our willingness to take risks, to step forward even when we are unsure, that shapes the kind of destiny we meet at the end of the road.

There is power in choosing your destiny rather than waiting for it.

The poet William Ernest Henley wrote, ‘I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.’ If this is true, then destiny is not a rigid plan but a series of doors — each opening based on whether we have the courage to knock.

The #Unshakable Truth

So, is destiny written in the stars or in the ink of our own hands?

Maybe it is both. Maybe we are handed the pen, but the script remains unfinished.

One thing is certain — destiny yields to those who move. It bends in favour of those who are willing to stand at the crossroads, stare uncertainty in the face, and make a choice. Even if that choice turns out to be the ‘wrong’ one, perhaps it was never wrong at all — just another way to arrive at where we were always meant to be.

Life is not about waiting for signs from the universe — it is about deciding what we will make of the signs we are given.

So, what will you do with yours?

The next step is yours to take; and that is what makes destiny truly #Unshakable.

‘See’ you next week.
